building defects

Steel, concrete and wood are the most common construction materials use for structural support.  When exposed to the elements, these materials all need some kind of coating to seal and protect them.

Concrete develops hairline cracks which absorb moisture and turn into fractures as steel reinforcement inside begins to corrode and expand.  In colder climates, the freeze-thaw cycle is even more aggressive.  Wood swells, splits, warps and rots over time.
