Foundation damp-proofing is the biggest let down of modern construction. Tar applicators spray a paint-thin coating on your foundation and pretend it is going to make a difference.  Tar damp-proofing will not stop degredation of your foundation and definitely will not stop water. Despite this, waterproofing companies continue to use tar-based products as the base of their drainage and geotextile systems.
